7 Reasons Why Your Business Should Have a Blog

7 Reasons Your Company Should Be BloggingI’ve started to blog more often these days, especially since I like to write, but more importantly, to share what’s in my head about websites, online and offline marketing, social media, and various other cool things I’ve learned over the years. However, if you’ve noticed, I haven’t written a post in quite some time (geez, it’s been too long!).

I have sooo many ideas but with working on client projects and attending to very needy cat, I haven’t had much time. But when I found an article by Jorgen Sundberg, entitled 7 Reasons Your Company Should Be Blogging, it reminded me why I wanted to blog in the first place. This post is my effort to stop procrastinating and just get ‘er done!

Here’s a summary of the 7 reasons (and I highly recommend you head over to read the details)!

  • Showcasing your expertise
  • Creating interesting content for social media
  • Authenticity
  • Better conversion rates
  • Humanizing the company brand
  • SEO & Inbound marketing
  • Conversation with your target audience

Note: Jorgen did mention one thing at the end of his post I have to say I disagree with. He stated “blogging is free,” which may be true from a technical standpoint using one of the open source blogging platforms like wordpress, tumblr, blogger, etc., but as I’ve learned to quantify everything, including my time, I will tell you it takes a commitment from you, or at least someone in your company, to continually provide information that will benefit your audience – and time is NOT free.

So head on over to read 7 Reasons Your Company Should Be Blogging that provides more detail into each of the reasons above.

Enjoy!

  • I think that one company must really have its own blog for other readers to visit your site and gain knowledge regularly. one purpose of this is allowing other people to know what is the history of your company.

  • It’s good that you disagree that blogging is free. Technically speaking, yes it can be free if you sign up with blogger and with any other site. However, if you’re serious with blogging and you want to make money through it, you have to pay for the web hosting and sometimes the domain name.

  • Hi Kesha!

I was reading the Blogboost Daily this evening and I came across your post. And I suddenly had one of “those” moments.

You know … the moments you just can’t explain away. “Serendipity” moments and the like. Moments in time when the universe takes over and you’re destined to land exactly in the right spot.

Don’t mean to get all woo-woo on ya, but stick with me here.

I just published a post late last night that addresses all those “ideas” we’re storing up, filing away, and hoping to do something with … some day (the day you’ll never find on a calendar!). :)

And then I land here and read …

“This post is my effort to stop procrastinating and just get ‘er done!”

Do you suppose we’re somehow connected via mental telepathy? LOL!

Glad you’re pulling up some of your older posts and re-introducing them to the world. This one rocks!

@Melanie, yes, we are connected and feel free to go “woo woo” on me anytime…i love woo woo! :-)

I’m remembering this post…it marked the beginning of my blogging life wherein I started blogging more often…so looking back I actually took my own advice and “got ‘er done” LOL

This is also another reason why I like the plugin “Tweet Old Post” because I sometimes forget about some oldie but goodie posts as well.

Glad you had a chance to read one of my earlier posts too deary!

    *hugs*

  • Thanks for the nudge, Kesha! Making that commitment to supply our OWN blogs with new content often falls by the wayside as we tend to client projects. The rewards, however, should have us setting fingers to keyboard on a regular schedule.

Exactly Kate! I’ve set aside time today to put some ideas in draft mode. My new practice is to start adding blog post ideas as drafts and also start scheduling blog posts to go out periodically. I think that will help me (at least I’m hoping it does). Next up, marketing the new posts once they go out but that’s a different topic :-)

  • Hey thanks for spreading the gospel of blogging! And I would say blogging is free in monetary terms but yes it takes a lot of sweat equity and it’s a full-on committment :-o

Jorgen, yes, a FULL-ON commitment! If you want to volunteer to get my ideas out of my head and onto my blog for me, please feel free :-) Furthermore, I hear a lot of businesses tend to hesitate because they don’t know what to say or how to say it, let alone have the time. Thanks to the plethora of content managers and copywriters these days, that excuse will no longer be valid.
