Try This Trick to See if You’re REALLY on the 1st Page of Google

google-search-personalizationIf you are a blogger, internet marketer, or website owner, I'm sure you have interest in knowing where you stand in Google. I remember when I first started understanding how to use keywords for my website, I would search for my website using that keyword and ultimately show up on page one of Google. Great, right?! Wrong! It showed up on the first page because Google sometimes customizes your search results based on your past search activity. This usually includes searches you've previously done and the results you've clicked on. Well, of course since I was constantly doing searches to see where I fit in from the search results and always visiting my own site, it was listed on the first page. What all of this means is if you have previously visited a website, there is a possibility that your browser has ...

Google and Facebook Battle: Still Not Playing Well Together

google-facebook-battle-over-social-search-internetIn a previous post, I talked about Google’s Social Search and its integration with social networks, EXCEPT Facebook. Basically, Google has integrated its social search with social networks like Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, and of course, its sister, YouTube. Did you notice anything? Facebook is the missing child! Emil Protalinski over at ZDNet.com explains the battle in more detail. I heard a bit about the love hate relationship between Google and Facebook a while back but I didn't know it was this crazy. You'd think because they are two of our biggest social networks, they would play in the same yard amicably but instead they are fighting like rival siblings! Can’t we all just get along?  LOL Okay, I laugh but in the end, in order for us as consumers and businesses to win, our biggest monopolies need to get ...

Marketing Your Website If Search Engines Didn’t Exist

seo-search-engine-bad-practicesThese days, I see so many people (bloggers and small business owners alike) concerned with what the search engines think of their websites because "so called" experts tell us that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is everything. Frankly, I'm tired of all the "experts" and self-proclaimed SEO gurus that keep popping up from the wood works everyday telling us that SEO is the bee's knees! (I love that phrase by the way!) LOL Now before you start to pull your hand waaaaaaaay back to get ready to hit me with your hardest slap and knock me back into reality, hear me out. Who would you rather read your site - search engines or human beings? Who are you attracting and doing business with  - search engines or human beings? You might say, "Well, Kesha, we need search ...

How Much Online Freedom Does Your Internet Have?

world-internet-censorship Well in America, the "land of the free", it's definitely not as much freedom, online in this case, as we'd think. In the name of national security censorship, who knows what direction we might end up going with online censorship and freedom! i just hope it not backwards. Per Mashable,

"America, the champion of democracy and freedom, actually has more Internet censorship than some countries in Africa and South America according to an infographic based on Internet censorship research conducted by the OpenNet Initiative." As for what kinds of content is censored, the research found that “blogs” were the most censored content at 20% while “militant groups” only ranked at 1%.
Surprised? I'm not. But what does this mean? Can our blog content be censored at some point? I surely don't know the answer to this question ...

Do You Still Feel Intimidated by Technology?

intimidated-by-technologyI often hear clients, friends, and family say: "I can't do anything with computers." "I don't know anything about computers." "All I need is a phone that dials." "I'm not tech savvy." "I wish I could learn more about technology but it seems so hard." However, don't underestimate yourselves. You know more, and are capable of learning more, than you know. My mom used to always ask me to store numbers in her cell phone or send an email on her behalf. But once I showed her how to do both herself, she was surprised at how easy it was and actually feels very proud of herself that she "gets it" - her words : - ) Embrace technology; it's not evil! :-) So to help you do so, here are two resources you'd find very helpful.

  1. Here Are 7 Tips to Help Eliminate the Intimidation of
