FAQs

Q1. How much does it cost to develop a website?
A1. There’s no simple answer to this. If you need a simple website we can usually give you an answer quickly. Unfortunately in most cases when building software or a website from scratch it may take anywhere from a couple of hours to several days to do an estimate. To accurately estimate a project, we take into considerations the finished project and all the choices available to you to get there. The variety of choices for your project are unlikely to fit into a predetermined package so we estimate each project separately which ends up working better for you as a client.
We’ve built, managed, and / or consulted on projects in the price range of $500 – $5000. Prices vary depending on the number of pages in the site, the type of site (static vs. dynamic), and what additional features are needed. To determine your needs, we offer a FREE initial consultation where we will discuss your needs in order to give you a detailed quote for your project.
Also, if you are on an extremely tight design budget, let us know that upfront so we can tell you exactly what you can get for the money.
Q2. How long does it take?
A2. This depends on the amount of work required, number of people available, and other project constraints. If it’s a simple website we can usually give you a quick answer. In most cases it’s not simple though – it can range anywhere from one week to several months.
Q3. What’s the next step?
A3. Developing software or a website is actually a two step process (this is a simplification of course). First step is planning, second step is development. It’s very similar to building a house. First an architect defines how a house is going to be built and then builders build it according to architect’s plan. Most people come to a developer without doing any planning. So before a developer can tell you how much it will cost to develop a solution for you, a detailed plan needs to be in place describing what needs to be developed.
First, we help you create detailed specifications outlining how your website has to work. Not defining your requirements early on may end up costing you more during development or may result in an inferior end product. Once you have detailed project specifications, we can then provide you with a fixed price quote and project timeline.
Q4. If I get a website will new potential clients start calling me?
A4. Getting a website alone does not guarantee you new clients. Your website is like a brochure. Once you have your brochures printed, people will not call you unless you send them out to potential clients. Same concept applies to your website – you need to promote your website to get people to visit it. Ask us about our website promotion services.
Q5. What other costs are involved?
A5. This varies project by project but in most cases you will need at least website hosting (starts at around $5/month) and domain name (starts at around $12/year). However, we can help you both of these areas and is even included in some of our packages.
Q6. How much does it cost to maintain a website?
A6. Again, you might not like to hear this but it depends on what your needs are. If you are maintaining your website yourself, then it’s a no brainer
The minimum annual cost will be for hosting and your domain name (see Q5). If you want us to make changes to your website, our website maintenance fees start at around $50 per month.
Q7. How do I get my website listed on search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc.?
A7. We provide website promotion services which include getting your website on various search engines including Google, Yahoo!, and Bing.
Q8. What are dynamic and static pages?
A8. Dynamic pages are pages that can display different content (which usually comes from a database). Static pages are pages that display the same content until someone (you or your web designer) changes them. Dynamic sites can reduce ongoing maintenance costs if you don’t want to change things yourself with a website editor. This is just one example – they can do a lot more and are usually a requirement when building more complex websites.
Q9. If I already have a site can you help me improve it?
A9. Yes! We can help you improve your website’s design, add or change functionality, attract more visitors to your website, increase sales or number of leads you get from the website.
Q10. Will there be any other expenses after you finish my website?
A10. We build your website according to the plan developed at the beginning of the project. Any changes to the plan will require additional time and cost extra.
Q11. I got a quote from another company and they will submit my website to 1 MILLION search engines for $9.99 (or some other low fee), will you do that?
A11. This is useless and this company/person is taking advantage of you. Unfortunately there are people like that and all that’s going to happen is they are going to take your money and your email address and send you spam. Simply submitting doesn’t mean that your site will rank at the top of a search engine when a user searches for content related to your site. If you want real results ask about our website promotion services. Besides, there are only a handful of search engines that really matter!
Q12. What is web hosting?
A12. Web hosting is much like renting a storage space. You rent space on someone else’s computer to store your website. Then when people enter your website address their computer will know to go to that storage space to open your website.
Q13. Do you put keywords and/or meta-tags in my website?
A13. Yes, we do as a part of our website promotion services. Adding keywords and/or meta-tags to your web pages alone does not do you much good. If someone is telling you otherwise ask them for measurable results. If you want real results ask about our website promotion services.
Q14. What is a domain name?
A14. Domain name is the address of your website (for example www.yourname.com).
Q15. I need a porno website, can you help me?
A15. Our apologies, but we do not work with individuals or companies dealing in harmful, unlawful, adult, or questionable material.
Q16. Can someone add content (text, pictures, etc.) to my website?
A16. Yes, we have partnered with experienced copywriters that can help you put this together.
Q17. What payment methods do you accept?
A17. Credit/Debit Cards via PayPal (recommended), checks, money orders, and of course cash.
Q18. How can I send you my content?
A18. We require that you send all content by email. Sorry, but we don’t accept content sent by fax or given in hard copy.
Q19. Can you just take content from my old site?
A19. Yes we can if it’s in the form of text. If it’s in a form of images we can not do it. If you request us to take content from your old website, we ask that you be very specific. We can help you decide what content you will use during the content phase of the site production process.
Q20. I don’t have any images but I want some pretty photographs on my site.
A20. Our web designers have access to stock photography and can help you find the right images for your site.
Q21. It seems that you guys know a lot about computers. Can you also fix my internet connection, reinstall my Windows, set up my network, etc.?
A21. No, we may be able to point you in the right direction but we do not do anything other than website design and promotion/advertising.
Q22. I am not in the US, can you still help me?
A22. Yes, we work internationally.
Q23. Will you train me on using my software / website?
A23. We will usually specify the number of training hours included in our proposal. If not, training can be arranged at an additional cost.
Q24. The quote I got from you is higher than the quote I got from some guy in India / my 12 year old nephew. Why is that?
A24. A good number of our clients have previously worked with other developers at a lower initial cost, but came to us when they realized the true value of the services we provide including honesty and integrity in everything we do. However, feel free to try out that guy in India or your 12 year old nephew first. Call us when you are ready to really get your web project going successfully
Q25. What is your privacy policy?
A25. We will never share your personal information with anyone outside of our company, we promise!
